Absence Policies
Unexcused Absence Policy
Class Period Unexcused Absences
Students with unexcused absences can expect to earn the lowest possible grade on any assignments, quizzes, tests, projects, presentations etc. that occur during the period of the unexcused absence. Teachers are under no obligation to give or grade work for students with unexcused absences (though they are encouraged to look at each individual situation). Additionally, a student who has one or more class-period unexcused absences will have one or more of the following interventions:
1st Unexcused Class Period Absence
Intervention: parent notification and assigned detention
2nd Unexcused Class Period Absence
Intervention: parent notification and assigned two (2) hours of Saturday School
3rd & Subsequent Class Period Unexcused Absences
Intervention: parent notification, assigned four (4) hours of Saturday School. Student may be assigned further progressive discipline for continued unexcused class-period absences.
Unexcused Full-Day Absences
Students with unexcused absences can expect to earn the lowest possible grade on any assignments, quizzes, tests, projects, presentations etc. that occur during the periods of the unexcused absence. Teachers are under no obligation to give or grade work for students with unexcused absences (though they are encouraged to look at each individual situation). Additionally, a student who has one or more full-day unexcused absences will have one or more of the following interventions:
1st Unexcused Full-Day Absence
Intervention: parent notification and assigned four (4) hours of Saturday School
2nd Unexcused Full-Day Absence
Intervention: parent notification, assigned a full day of In-School Suspension and placed on an Attendance Contract
3rd & Subsequent Full-Day Unexcused Absences
Intervention: parent notification, assigned a full day of In-School Suspension, and assigned to a restorative conference.
