Cohort Information
As a general rule:
- Families with an EVEN house number will be in Cohort A - students living with those families will meet in person on Monday & Tuesday
- Additionally, families at Willow Tree Grove, Grffis North Creek, Shangri La, Autumn Chase and Waterstone apartments (all of which have odd numbers) will also be in Cohort A and meet on Monday & Tuesday (we have to move these to Cohort A in order to keep the cohorts balanced)
- Families with an ODD house number will be in Cohort B - students living with those families will meet in person on Thursday & Friday
- Except families at Willow Tree Grove, Grffis North Creek, Shangri La, Autumn Chase and Waterstone apartments will be in Cohort A, not Cohort B.
Given that we need to keep the cohorts as equal as possible so we can safely fit into classrooms on campus, we will not make cohort changes except in very rare circumstances (and absolutely no changes will be made once we start on April 19). A final notification of which cohort individual students are in will be sent out prior to spring break.
Return to In-Person Learning Video
The ASB Students have made a video that shows a bit of what life will be like when you return to in-person learning on campus. If you have any issues viewing the video below, here is the direct link.

Bus Routes and Student Parking
Bus Information
Our buses provide a safe, convenient way to get to and from school. For bus safety information, please check out this webpage: https://www.nsd.org/northshore-learns/reopening/reopening/staying-safe-at-school/transportation
To double-check your bus route, please visit https://www.nsd.org/our-district/departments/transportation/bus-stop-information
Student Parking
In order to park on campus, students must obtain a FREE parking pass, register their vehicle and agree to abide by the Parking Expectations. They are then assigned a specific parking spot in the North (Student) Parking Lot and must park in that spot using the vehicle that they registered. Students should never park in the South (Staff and Visitor) Parking Lot. For more information, please see https://northcreek.nsd.org/resources/student-parking
Students will be parked "every other spot" so that when they get out of their cars, they will at least have a few feet of space between them and the student parked next to them.
Student Arrival
Before students can attend classes this spring, they must do two things:
- Fill out a Health Check Form (this should be done on StudentVue at home each morning if possible).
- Have their temperature taken.
Students will begin to be allowed into the building at 7 AM on school days. Please do not arrive prior to 7 AM as we do not have staff to monitor students for safety prior to opening. Students must be wearing masks at all times and be physically distance to the extent possible while on campus.
If students are being dropped off in the Staff (south) lot or walked/biked from the south, they will proceed to the East Vestibule entrance of Building 1 by the Nurse’s office.
No student is to enter any other part of campus or any classroom without first going through the Health Check Form verification and temperature screening process each day.
Before entering the buildings for a temperature screening, students will need to have completed the Health Check Form in StudentVue and have their Student ID card ready for scanning (we will have replacement ID cards ready if students have lost theirs - email Ms. Walkigorski at kwaligorski@nsd.org to order a replacement card). There will be signs and QR codes for students who forgot to do the Health Check Form at home. Paper copies will be available for students without access to a smartphone.
After the students’ health check form has been verified, students will proceed to the temperature check station. If the student does not have a temperature of over 100.4 degrees, they will receive a colored bracelet to wear for the day. This bracelet tells all staff that the student has been through the Health Check and temperature screening process. They will need to wear the bracelet in order to be able to access their classrooms. If a student has a temperature of over 100.4 degrees, they will be moved to an isolation room (or rooms depending on need) and families will be called to pick them up from school.
After the health screening and temperature check is complete, students may get breakfast, socialize with friends in the Courtyard (with masks on and physical distancing in place) or proceed directly to their first class. If a student needs to get breakfast, they can go to the Commons to get breakfast, and will be asked to sit in a socially distanced chair in the cafeteria to eat their breakfast prior to going to their first class of the day.
Breakfast
Breakfast will be available daily and is FREE to all students. Students who want to eat will sit in one of the physically distanced chairs in the Commons or can eat outside as long as they can maintain physical distance from others while eating.
No eating is allowed in any classroom. Breakfast and all snacks must be eaten either in the Commons or outside.

Student Movement Around Campus
In order to maintain as much physical distancing as possible while moving about campus, students will be asked to keep to the right, have their right hand on the stair rail, or keep their right arm with the bracelet on it as close to the wall as possible.
This will create one-way flow in our halls and will minimize physical contact. Students must wear their masks at all times while on campus except when eating and drinking.
This is not a perfect system as no high school is built in a perfect circle or ellipse. However, one way walking paths decrease the chances of spreading COVID19.
Classrooms & Class Time
Class Time will be a little different than you’re used to at school. The first reason is the seating. All desks will be located 6 feet apart (Northshore is keeping with the 6 ft distance out of an abundance of caution) and will have been cleaned before you arrive. In additional, all glass walls will be open to provide the most possible space and to increase ventilation.
Each student who enters will take an empty seat. Students are not to get up without permission, and will need to ask to go use the restroom. Students should prepare to bring their own water if possible, as water fountains are not in use (however, the water bottle filling stations will still work).
When there are only a few minutes left in the class period, teachers will give students sanitary wipes. Students are to wipe down their own desks then throw the wipe away on their way out of the classroom.
Collaboration cubes will be reserved for specific teacher/student usage and will not be available to the general student body at any time during the day.
Bathrooms
Students who need to use the bathroom during class will need to sign out using our typical procedures. To the extent possible, only one student will be allowed out at a time. During passing time, students may use the bathroom but should be aware of the number of students already in the bathroom.
Upon arrival to the restroom, students will use hand sanitizer so that any door, handle or faucet they touch will remain as clean as possible.
Students will need to wear their masks the entire time and maintain physical distance in the bathroom. Students must wash their hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds prior leaving to return to class.
Technology
Students will need to bring their fully charged laptops or other devices to school each day. Students who cannot bring their device from home to school and back should request a device by filling out this form: https://www.nsd.org/northshore-learns/support/request
Students will still be using Zoom, still accessing Schoology etc. so having a fully charged device will be critical for student success.
Tuesday/Friday Flexible Time (Advisory) (11:00 - 12:05)
Attendance is required as this is part of how we are meeting the Governor's mandate.
On Tuesdays and Fridays, students will report to their Advisory class immediately after 6th period. Teachers will be using the Flexible Time for several things (among others):
- Advisory lessons
- Emergency Drills (like evacuation drills)
- Office Hours (over Zoom)
- Study Hall
- ASB Elections
- Virtual Assemblies
- Meet with Counselors as needed
Lunch
At the end of the day, there will be a FREE Grab-n-Go lunch available to any student who wants one. When class ends at 12:05, students who want a lunch should make their way to the nearest lunch distribution cart (the red stars on the picture below), grab their lunch, and be on their way (either to the bus, to their car, walking/riding home, or getting in the car of the person picking them up.
End of the On-Campus School Day Procedures
At the end of class at 12:05, all students must make their way home. Students riding the bus should get the bus loop quickly. Students driving or walking/riding home should head home in a timely fashion.
Students being picked up need to be picked up by 12:15 at the very latest. If you are dropping off and picking up your student, be sure to arrange your calendar so you can get your student by 12:15.
There is no waiting around on campus for afternoon sports practices. All students, including student-athletes, must head home for their afternoon Intervention Blocks. Athletes may return to campus at their assigned practice or game times.
Afternoon Intervention Times
Each afternoon, teachers will have intervention times for all students. These intervention sessions will be 100% remote.
Teachers may invite students to join them, may review important concepts covered in class, may preview upcoming learning, may help with difficult vocabulary or may provide extensions to students who need them (among other things).
Students are expected and encouraged to join their teachers for these intervention blocks.

Attendance and Reporting Absences
Students who are attending in-person schooling should try to attend every possible day. If for some reason your student needs to be absent from in-person schooling (or remote learning), please call or email the Attendance Office to alert us. Students who cannot attend in-person for whatever reason are welcome to attend remotely.
For information on how to report absences, visit https://northcreek.nsd.org/resources/attendance, or email the attendance office at mrousoffmesaros@nsd.org
