Meet the Coaches
Coach Octavio Medina
Coach Octavio has played volleyball since he was 14 years old. In high school, he developed his passion and competitiveness for the sport, earning multiple medals and championships. He was granted a university sports scholarship at ITESM Queretaro, one of Mexico's most winning University teams. In 1995, Coach Octavio was selected to be part of the Mexico Student National team. In 1997, he received the MVP award in both CONADEIP and CONDDE National Championships, leading to his participation on the Mexico National Volleyball Team. He also received Queretaro's Athlete of the Year in 1997.
In 2015, Coach Octavio founded his own volleyball academy in Queretaro, where he played an active role as a Head Coach and promoter of volleyball and beach volleyball. In the last three years, he has been coaching volleyball in Washington State clubs, middle and high school teams. In 2022 he was part of the Lake Washington HS coaching staff when they earned KingCo 3A Third Place and qualified for the first time to the State Championships.
His personal interests include coaching volleyball, raising his children and trying to find some time to run his 8th marathon.
